I have been working with different additions to the onions, which changes the flavor of the onions entirely. One Sunday afternoon I cooked these caramelized onions 12 different ways. Yield: 1/2 c 1 c onion, sliced or wedged thin 1 T wine, vinegar, juice (opt)* Heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally until golden brown. Approx. 10 minutes. Add seasonings and optional flavoring, cooking 2 more minutes. Top Garlic Green Beans, toss in a Wilted Spinach Salad or garnish Onion Soup with these tasty onions.
* Marsala wine, Cabernet Sauvignon, whiskey, Sherry, Ver Juice (frozen white grape "juice"), pomegranate juice, orange juice, Worcestershire sauce, Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, Ortalli 4-leaf balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, rosemary oil |
